Every target species trip begins with a conversation. You tell us what you’re after — and we’ll create the plan to make it happen. Depending on the time of year, you can pursue:

Redfish

One of the most popular inshore targets along the Texas Gulf Coast. We chase reds on shallow flats, grassy shorelines, and shell beds using live bait, popping corks, or artificial lures.



  • Available year-round
  • Great for sight-casting and topwater bites
  • Fights hard and makes for great photos (and dinner)

Speckled Trout

These aggressive fish are fun to catch and even better to eat. Trout trips focus on deeper grass flats, drop-offs, and warmer water zones.



  • Peak season: late spring through fall
  • Light tackle techniques
  • Often paired with redfish on combo trips

Black Drum

Ideal for anglers looking for a deep tug. These heavy hitters roam inshore waters and can weigh 30+ lbs during the spring migration.



  • Best season: February–April
  • Bottom fishing with fresh crab or shrimp
  • Known for strong fights and unique size

Flounder

These ambush predators are a fun challenge for precision anglers. We target them in channels, drains, and sandy flats.



  • Peak season: fall and early winter
  • Light tackle and jig techniques
  • Can be combined with gigging trips (when available)

Trip Format & Duration

Our target species trips can be booked as half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) outings, depending on your goals, skill level, and seasonal timing.



  • Departure time: 6:00 AM (custom options available)
  • Location: Departing from Corpus Christi
  • Group size: 2–4 anglers recommended for ideal experience

    Yes — many guests focus on a primary species and add a secondary if conditions allow. Just let us know what you’re after and we’ll build a smart plan.

  • Do I need to bring special bait or gear?

    Nope. Everything is provided. If you have favorite gear, you're welcome to bring it — Captain Grant will help rig it for success.

  • Are these trips good for beginners?

    Absolutely. Even focused trips are beginner-friendly. Captain Grant will coach you through every step.
